Optical Calcite crystal
(Iceland Spar) is an uniaxial crystal of calcium carbonate (CaCO3).
As
a rock-forming mineral, calcite occurs as limestone, marble and
chalk, and in cave deposits as travertine, tuba and onyx marble.
It's named "Iceland Spar" because of found primarily
in Iceland. It is a negative uniaxial crystal that has high birefringence,
wide spectral transmission and availability in reasonably sized
rhombs. It is ideal material used as visible and near IR polarizers,
such as Glan Taylor, Glan Thompson and Glan laser in the optics
industry.
Our
raw calcite crystals are extracted from
the deposits of our own according to our optical
industry standard, assuring the best quality through a careful
selection of calcite pieces. Thanks to the quality of the deposits
